Ohio Boychoir - a 30+ year tradition!
Formed around a passion for quality voices, combining musicianship and community pride, the Ohio Boychoir has developed into one of Ohio's prized cultural assets as it provides its unique vocal music eduational and performance program.
Founded by Alexander Musichuk in 1974, the Ohio Boychoir has been called upon to sing for Ohio governors and Presidents Carter and Bush, as well as President Reagan at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. During President Clinton's administration in the 1993 and 1995 Christmas seasons, the choir was invited to sing at special receptions in the East Room of The White House; and during President George W Bush's first year in office the choir performed to sing in The White House at a special reception for members of Congress and their families.
Members of the 1982-83 choir appeared in the MGM motion picture, "A Christmas Story".
The Ohio Boychoir has participated in nine international concert tours with a Sunday morning high mass at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Franciscan Church in Salzburg, Austria as well as performances in the great and historic Canterbury Cathedral of England and St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland. The choir toured the former Soviet Union in 1987 with concerts in Moscow, Riga and Warsaw, Poland and returned in 1989 and 1991 for concert tours in Ukraine, which included performances in the historic opera houses of Lviv and Kiev.

The Ohio Boychoir toured New Zealand and Australia in 1994 with eleven performances, and participated in an International Music Festival with performances in the fabled Sydney Opera House. Because of the choir;s outstanding performance in Carl Orff^s "Carmina Burana", the ensemble was invited to be the featured boychoir in the 1995 International Music Festival of Munich, Germany on the 100th anniversary of Carl Orff's birth in Munich. The choir returned with a coveted Gold Award.
The Ohio Boychoir has performed in many great churches and cathedrals of North America, including the Washington National Cathedral, National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, New York's St. Patrick Cathedral, Notre Dame de Montreal and the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado. The choir has also performed in fine concert halls, including Alice Tully Hall in New York's Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C.
The Ohio Boychoir has frequently been asked to furnish soloist and ensembles for major music productions. Calls have come from The Cleveland Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, Glimmerglass Summer Opera, Cleveland San Jose Ballet and other prestigious world-class organizations.
Alexander Musichuk - Founder and Director Laureate
Mr. Musichuk founded the Ohio Boychoir in 1974 and served as Music Director until his retirement in January 2004. His lifelong dedication, passion and commitment to this outstanding choir are carried out today. We salute and honor him in his role as Director Laureate.
